Abstract
This paper proposed a generalized estimator in simple random sampling for the finite population median using two auxiliary variables. The estimated BIAS and mean square error are computed for the proposed median estimator under simple random sampling without replacement scheme. The theoretical and numerical comparison of the MSE shows that the proposed median estimator is more efficient then the estimators using in practice. In addition, some members of the proposed general class of estimator are also provided for comparison purpose. Finally, using five different data sets the numerical and graphical comparison of the percent relative efficiency (PRE) is also performed.
Keywords: Auxiliary Variables; BIAS; Median; Mean Square Error; Relative Efficiency.
